Outdoor Living - inspiration for a fun-filled summer
So, we're hoping for a fun-filled summer with wall to wall sunshine and plenty of opportunity to be outdoors. We're talking al fresco dining; languishing on rugs, cushions and loungers in our gardens and on our patios; staying up late around a fire chatting with friends and drinking rose; and being able to BBQ every day. Well there's nothing like a bit of positive thinking, especially when you live in the UK!
I'm not going to ramble on this time - it's going to be all about the pictures - they'll be inspiration enough to get you going outside. First up, creating a relaxing, practical place to sit outside with friends and family....
If you've got a patio or decking, get it pressure-washed and then do the same for your outdoor furniture - it will make everything feel like new. The perfect outdoor seating area has plenty of comfortable chairs (or get some seating built in by a carpenter) with lots of beautiful cushions (don't be afraid to bring the inside out by using your indoor cushions), a coffee table for drinks (old crates or logs are great for this), some shade (either by way of a parasol or a pergola), plenty of pots or planting and you'll definitely need some lights for those long balmy evenings (?!). Lanterns are beautiful outside and add atmosphere plus they look pretty even when they're not lit. Bistro lights work brilliantly hung over a seating area, as do outdoor fairy lights. Lastly, don't rule out an outdoor rug. They really cosy up an outdoor seating area.
I also have a small obsession with verandas so if you're lucky enough to have one, here's what yours could look like:
Al Fresco Dining
Is there anything more wonderful than eating a meal outside in the sunshine? Don't forget that you'll need cushions for your dining chairs, some shade, a table cloth or some beautiful placemats (we have lots at Andrassy Living), some lighting, and some flowers for the table - herbs actually work brilliantly in pots as a centrepiece. There's plenty of inspiration for you below:

You can't beat living outdoors and although we don't always have the weather in the UK, don't let it stop you from creating the perfect outdoor space at your place.
